In rp last night - well, there wasn't any, but there was planning and plotting, both of which help with rp. *smiles sweetly*

House cleaning went faster than I thought, especially since I got held up at work late, and wolfcat managed to get most of it done before I got home. That was nice. *beams* Thank you very much, Wolfcat!

And other than that, eh, here, have a puzzle or two:

Polish is different! It's a nationality. :)

There's a store on the Calgary's west side on Highway 1 (the Trans Canada Highway for those of you who might not know) leading into the mountains. The shop is innocently called "Easy Rent-a-Ski", and is for those folks who don't own their own ski's, obviously, to rent some and go skiing either at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, or farther into the mountains.

If you remove the hyphens, the name of the store become "Easy Rentaski," which is very Polish sounding.

Well.. it -was- funny when we were kids.

If the numbers going across are a b c and d, then d = c - | a - b |
where the pipes indicate absolute value. Then again, you could just follow the decreasing values of d in every row and say, "1". There are a lot of patterns there.

Does the 'official' answer for 1 have anything to do with homophones?

1) Annoy is different. Read, Polish, and Dessert can often be mis-interpreted for different meanings or have vastly different meanings depending on the reading (I am Polish. vs. I polish the shoe. I read the book yesterday. vs. I read books. I ate a dessert vs. I am stuck in the desert).

3) This thing has some evil patterns, but I'm going to say the answer is 1, as I'll take the "Makes every fourth number descend by 1" theory.

That's annoying. ;) Seriously, since dessert only has one meaning, and it being confusing is entirely subjective. It's only a noun, and it only means "sweet stuff you eat after the main meal." I guess I gave too much credit to the puzzle makers.
