Shiver

Okay, so this might not freak out the rest of you ... but ... here I was this morning, driving to work. It's a beautiful day, sky is bright blue, traffic is relatively light. One of the days I almost don't mind the 66km commute.

And then I notice the black smoke. Not a lot of it, but there's some. Over towards the west and just a bit south. In fact, there's more of it, and it looks like it's coming from one of the overpasses, probably just over the east bound lanes of traffic that are even lighter than where I am, going in the opposite direction.

Kept driving. Smoke is still rising - yep, something's definitely on fire.

Traffic in my lanes slows to look. Yay. Okay, it's stupid, but at least it means I got to look without slowing traffic down any more than it already was. On the Eastbound shoulder, sort of just before the 427 (I think), there's an SUV sort of thing. On fire. hood's on fire. Where the driver and passenger would sit, that's on fire too. Heck, even the roof was visibly on fire.

*shivers more*

Unfortunately, I must say that vehicle fires are a daily event here in Atlanta.

Daily ... Ick.

I posted the only other day I saw one... back a while. and that was not so nasty as this one.

I don't think I've ever seen such a thing before. Not in real life, anyway.

Yes. That was just about what I saw. And I still don't like it.

Be sure your engine oil is looked after regularly, note your engine temperature, and try not to let maintenance get away from you (especially fuel lines and the like).

One day, coming out of Manhattan, ON a bridge, the car behind us had flames pouring out from BELOW the car. Someone finally alerted the driver to this, and they (wisely) parked the car right where it was and got the hell out.

Boy, I sure wouldn't have wanted to be behind them, though. *LOL*

Yeesh.

That is a scary thing too. But since I"m driving a 2002 Saturn atm, I won't worry about it just yet.

Yeah, you'll be fine. problems VERY unlikely.

(Oh, did I mention that car on the bridge thing happened early during morning rush-hour? In Manhattan... *lol* wooo-ee).

I was very happy rubbernecking at the STOPPED TRAFFIC around and behind this carbeque on a bridge. :)

Yes I did. If I can make it, I'd love to be there!
