Is that Code Red, or did they come up with a new flavour?

Yes, it's Code Red.

It's been around for quite a few months now, silly. Even before I started at Waterloo. :P

That said, I like Code Red. Better than the original... though both of them lose to US Mountain Dew which apparently has caffeine. *drool*

US Mountain Dew has more caffeine than Pepsi or Coke.

Canada has some silly rule about only brown colas having caffeine.

*shrugs*

Heck if I know...

And it's the first time I noticed it ... even if it had been out for years!

Did you know Jolt Cola comes in about half a dozen flavours? =)

uhm, no, actually, I didn't.

Should I be worried that you do?

They sell most of them at the C&D here. :)

Oddly enough, I've never seen more than one at C&D. But local 7-11 sells 2 or 3 different ones, I think.

Hmmm. They used to sell them in the C&D.... but now they appear to have given that shelf-space to something else. Guess the multi-flavoured jolt didn't sell too well. :P

I think it's actually something about cirtus drinks. Because I've seen caffeinated clear drinks here (like "Water Joe" although rarely), and Guru (which is white grape juice based) is heavily caffeinated, you just can't get caffeinated citrus drinks up here.

When I was doing training for US clients, I always used to start my first session with a can of US Dew. I'd pop-quiz the class with the difference between US Dew and Canadian Dew. Few knew the answer. None understood it. "What's the point"? they'd ask.

And rightly! Because de-caf Mountain Dew is... what, sweet green fizzy water!?

That's not as bad as decaf diet pepsi or coke, however.

de-caf diet soda.

Okay, maybe the rule has changed? Or I never clearly understood it either.

I just think it's pretty funny, all things considered.

I've always been curious, but never did anything about it, so I've just sent off some email to some PR types, and we'll see what comes of it.

In the meantime, I found a really funky site with a list of drinks and the caffeine they contain!

Sweet.

Well, then I won't be drinking Coke for caffeine... it seems pointless compared to Jolt.

Jolt forever. :)

Pepsi One does. Regular pepsi? So-so.

Okay, from http://abcnews.go.com/onair/2020/2020_000216_caffeine_crreports.html :

A policy now under review in Canada makes it illegal to add caffeine to any non-cola sodas sold there.

Wish they had a reference to the actual policy!

Non-cola sodas, hmm?

I guess caffeinated water doesn't count.

Yeah, have you also seen "Water Joe"?

It might not count because it's not a soda (i.e. non-carbonated). Man, talk about bizarre.
