I think it's actually something about cirtus drinks. Because I've seen caffeinated clear drinks here (like "Water Joe" although rarely), and Guru (which is white grape juice based) is heavily caffeinated, you just can't get caffeinated citrus drinks up here.
When I was doing training for US clients, I always used to start my first session with a can of US Dew. I'd pop-quiz the class with the difference between US Dew and Canadian Dew. Few knew the answer. None understood it. "What's the point"? they'd ask.
And rightly! Because de-caf Mountain Dew is... what, sweet green fizzy water!?
Hmmm. They used to sell them in the C&D.... but now they appear to have given that shelf-space to something else. Guess the multi-flavoured jolt didn't sell too well. :P

Date: 2002-04-03 11:38 am (UTC)That said, I like Code Red. Better than the original... though both of them lose to US Mountain Dew which apparently has caffeine. *drool*
Re:
Date: 2002-04-03 11:40 am (UTC)US Mountain Dew has more caffeine than Pepsi or Coke.
Canada has some silly rule about only brown colas having caffeine.
*shrugs*
Heck if I know...

Should I be worried that you do?
Re:

I just think it's pretty funny, all things considered.

Date: 2002-04-03 02:28 pm (UTC)In the meantime, I found a really funky site with a list of drinks and the caffeine they contain!
Sweet.

Date: 2002-04-03 02:36 pm (UTC)A policy now under review in Canada makes it illegal to add caffeine to any non-cola sodas sold there.
Wish they had a reference to the actual policy!

I guess caffeinated water doesn't count.

Jolt forever. :)
