(no subject)

nVidia GeForce 6200 ... just to be precise.

And the updated drivers did not resolve the issue. I'm wondering if maybe there's a bad memory stick or something...

Very aggravating. Well, I'm not sure I have the opportunity to do anything about it until Friday. But then I can take it back to the store and get them to check the memory sticks. How does one test for bad memory chips anyway?

There's a memtest program available. Also, pull them all out and add them back in one by one, and try to reproduce the issue.

Pull them out ... Oh, man, you mean I gotta touch the hardware?

That could be frightening.

I wonder if you're overheating, too... I dunno. I'd conscript [livejournal.com profile] pamwoo to put the machine through its paces. :)

Considering the number of fans that Pam put in there when building the computer, I doubt it's overheating. Though at this point anything is possible.

It's a thought to follow up on as well.

So far as conscripting Pam goes, eh, if it works out that way, sure.

memtest - where do I find that?

Thanks... I'm going to try that tonight and see what it tells me.
