The Nutcracker Suite

Well, the music was awesome, the costumes were neat, the set was fabulous, and the dancers... they just didn't fly.

Oh, and the story has been sanitized beyond recognition.

We still had fun, but eh - my mother summed it up best at the end. We were waiting in line to pay for parking, and she said, "Where was the nutcracker? I was looking for him the entire ballet and never saw him."

Yeah. That sums it up.

Ouch. Gotta love it when people mess with the story...

Oh, yeah...

Clara was replaced by Marie and Misha, and the Nutcracker was a guy named Peter that fell in kinda-love with a woman in a white tutu that we think was supposed to be the Sugar Plum Fairy. Uncle Nikolai became some Grand Duke Suchnsuch and there was a nursemaid named Baba who became the Empress Dowager...

... the hell?

But, it was still a good time and I enjoyed going.

But the sets and costumes were really cool... :)

Well, who cares about the story then? The sets are what matter at these things.
