So, stormy weather is still here. Traffic is abysmal, but I am working from home. Go me. Well, it is definitely the sort of thing that needs to be done, because I have a lot of work. and it would never get done if I had to spend so much time sitting in traffic watching my gas indicator slowly tick down the remaining gas in my tank.

In other news, uhm, well, I did get a Solara post done, though it's quite certain that Solara does not want anyone to ICly ever find this journal of hers. She figures it will get her into trouble. ;)

She's probably right too.

In other, other news, Tori noticed Saskia and Gordan on a date in Earheart's yesterday. Interesting.

I wonder when this dumb weather will clear up a bit so I can go shovel. Sometime today, I hope. Perhaps the rain will melt all the snow? That would be even better.

Ah well, back to work.

From what I've heard, the rain will only make it worse: Freezing rain... which is to be covered my more snow.

Merry Christmas?

Yay! Oh well, that will just make shovelling a challenge. :)

*laughs* Yes...

My father's just loving it... He's been on the road for 26 hours now. In a huge truck. Surrounded by idiots who don't realize he can't stop quickly.

*sigh*

EEEEP. Your poor father. Then again, those big trucks scare me when it's not snowing...

Yeah, me too, sometimes.

Better him than me...

My biggest challenge, currently, is keeping Gwydion off of my computer screen. He's "mouse hunting"...

*laughs at the mouse hunting kitty*

Course, I have to keep Tal away from my computer cord.... *rolls eyes*

Anyway, 26 hours is a long time. Poor guy. Doesn't he get to take a break and sleep? Ouch!

He normally does, but he got stuck in snow and traffic and has to make it to a delivery appointment today. He was in Ohio last night and really should've made it here with time to spare, but traffic slowed to a crawl.

*just winces*

Note to self ... never be a truck driver. ;)

Pretty much...

It's kinda scary to think of those big rig drivers going that long without sufficient rest.

From: [identity profile] insaint.livejournal.com
See, my advice's always been to "fuck the appointment and get some sleep".

Alas, it's not always an option if one wants to keep the job.

Although technically, it is illegal for the drivers to go that long without sleep, both in the U.S. and in Canada.

Yep, and rightly so.

However, fighting your employer in court for illegal firing doesn't pay the bills.

*shrugs* That aside, my father's too stubborn for his own good when it comes to stuff like this, too. And he doesn't have the English skills to argue his way out of things. C'est la vie.

From: [identity profile] damara.livejournal.com
*nods* Yeah - there is that.

It's not your father I was thinking of fighting the employer though. That's just a nasty employer taking advantage off the truck drirvers.

But you've no idea how often I hear "That doesn't happen any more!" *mrfl* There are too many people on this planet with their heads up various orifices not really paying attention.

Ain't that the truth... *shakes her head*

Okay, I need to find some "happy thoughts!" material now. Rahr.

*patpats*

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take the conversation that way...

Happy thoughts? Uhm, Demnor got to crater things? LJ Heroestales posts? Nodwick? Hey, it is Thursday, isn't it?

I used up Nodwick already. Read it last night when WoW was pissing me off. :)

It is, actually, quite amusing this week.

Oh. Well, I only just looked at it. *giggles* Poor people - that's just rough. And Piffany is still funny.

*wrinkles her nose* Well, other happy thoughts ... hrm ... You don't have to shovel out the driveway?

Date: 2004-12-23 06:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] insaint.livejournal.com
*grin* True, I don't. Though I may have to dig my car out. It sunk into the snow when I parked. That was a little weird.

I'm going to try drawing Castle Krag now... which is a sure road to embarrassment, but I don't care.

Oooh. Cool. Good luck with it - I hope it works. Me, I just finished shovelling - the temperature is dropping here, and everything is freezing. Be careful when you go out there, it's a skating rink.

Date: 2004-12-23 07:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] insaint.livejournal.com
Meh. Stupid weather. Thanks for the warning...

And the castle is coming alone nicely. Well, it was until I finished the walls. I can draw straight lines. Trying to draw a view-from-the-top trebuchet isn't much fun. (For those of us who don't draw on a regular basis.) Hrm. 'tis a puzzle. :)

*grins*

A challenge for you. Excellent. Me, I've got all caught up on Jossa and am now working on Existence, in between doing work.

Cool. I'm pretty much just coasting through the last few days here. I have some more documentation to write (and possibly some code), but there's nothing major left to do.

From: [identity profile] damara.livejournal.com
That's not a bad thing, you know.

I'm not complaining. :)

Nope. It is not.
