Monday in Norway

It's just as cloudy here as it was back home. Though hopefully they have better weather there today. They were supposed to.

Parts of this place remind me of Northern Ontario. Lots of green and huge slate rock type things at the sides of the roads, not to mention water everywhere. Course, the hills here are taller than the Canadian Shield, but there are distinct similarities.

People are nice, but Norwegian is still difficult to understand. At least spoken is. The written has many words that are French spelling or close to English, so that is sometimes easier to figure out. Because you know, pommes frites is pronounced pomfrey. Or at least, that's how my ears heard it.

Go figure.

*snugs* Glad your safe. Have fun :)

*grins*

I'm having fun already. What are you up to these days? Haven't heard from you in a while.

[identity profile] proudsky.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Getting the house ready for the baby, playing the Baldur's Gate games, and watching the new episodes of SG1 and Stargate: Atlantis :)

Ive been online a few times, but noone is ever around. Alery says I should go to RS, but I just dunno if I have enough time to dedicate to a new character at this point.

All is well on my end. Hope your doing well :)

[identity profile] damara.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if you log onto rs, you can let me know you're online? If I log onto Daes, and nobody is there, I often idle out on that screen, you see.

Good to know you're having fun.

The cats definitely miss you. When Alery and I went to tend them yesterday, neither Apache nor Chey would leave us for very long — though Chey would leave us long enough to go to the back door and yowl vainly for freedom.

But, we watered the garden and applied the weed-kill and bug-kill stuff.

Though, um, I think something's wrong with your garage door opener...

*peers*

Something's wrong with the garage door opener?

How do you mean?

Thanks for the garden and the kitty cats. I'm sure they appreciate it, even if they don't know it. ;)

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. Water meter's phoned in, too...

As for the garage door opener... it stopped working. We don't know why. We just know that we eventually had to pull the red lever and close it the old fashioned way...

I'm going to ask [livejournal.com profile] akesteven to come over and look at it.

[identity profile] damara.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
*eeps*

That's not a good thing, really. It might need a new battery, I suppose. Or are you using the right one? There were two on the shelf, by the door. One hasn't worked in months (because Akesteven broke it). But the other one works just fine.

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
We tried both. But, mainly the black one with the blue buttons. It was the only one that even made a blip of a shudder in the motor.

And we've considered it might be batteries. Just haven't gotten any, yet. (Partly 'cause I couldn't figure out what sort it needed. I'm guessing triple A.)

[identity profile] damara.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
Heck if I know. That is not a good thing, really.

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
No, I didn't think so... It worked fine on Saturday. I used it a couple of times, then, to take garbage out. And it worked to begin with on Sunday. I used it to open the garage in order to go and get the hose and feeder stuff.

But, it wouldn't close.

We looked to make sure nothing impeded the track or the sensors. But, we just didn't find anything.

I intend to keep trying to figure it out, however.

[identity profile] akesteven.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope not AAA batteries. 3 CR3025 I think. That's what the one I had (which doesn't work) needed. Damara's might be a little different though.

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, then, I'm stuck.

[identity profile] damara.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
you should have money to buy the batteries though. I left you a little extra in case of emergency.

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm sure I do... I'll go look on the weekend.

[identity profile] insaint.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I picked up Apache because she was purring loudly and walking around me in circles. She just leaned into me and clung. :)

It was amusing.

[identity profile] valwoo.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 11:39 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] damara.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)

How about postcards, will they do?

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep.

[identity profile] valwoo.livejournal.com 2004-07-19 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
