Weedman
Well, they came by yesterday - I wonder if they met the fence post people? Anyway, they fertilized the lawn, and left me a message to water within 24 hours. Considering the rain we got ... I think it's covered.
No rp last night, though I did skim through some of the Exalted downloaded thingy. I think a Solar Dawn or Night would be fun. *grins* Dallyn or Jewel, really.
Hrm ... thoughts?
Of course, now Dallyn really wants to play!

I read
I might be interested in your PbBB thing, but I know nothing about Exalted and really don't have time over the next 48 hours to create a character for a system I don't know at all.
Perhaps once I see how the end of the week looks.
Of course, there's still that assignment due next week, too.

That's okay, I don't think my character will be done over the next 24 hours. There is a website, where you can download the basic rule book for free, though you do have to register with the site.

Well, okay then. I have an e-copy, though it's all protected and such.

Go download that. It's a listing of all the charms (magic spells) in the corebook that Solar Exalted can learn. The rest of character generation is a breeze to walk through. For information on the setting, I can give you some basics, and if you can steal a glance at Dara's copy sometime, Wolfcat, you're good to go.

Not, mind, that a scene or two online isn't entirely possible meantime.

We can chat about it some tonight, I expect, and if you want me to walk you through Chargen, just let me know.

Works for me. Now, if you would prefer one of the other types - I could manage them as well. Do you want a Zenith type? I could have fun with that as well...

Pages 104-105 give a good CG summary for you as well. It's not unlike Heroes or Daes in terms of sheets, really. Charms are what always take the longest, I find.
As for a background, I recommend reading through the general areas (starting on page 54, 34 if you want to read about the Blessed Isle, where all the Dragon-Blooded roam) and get an idea of where to be from. The world is high-fantasy. Kinda WoT-ish in some ways. Magic exists and is accepted, though it's called Essence. There are monsters, demons, and all sorts of fun stuff to deal with.

I'll have to go back through to figure out concept. Though I would prefer to have a concept different from the others...just cause I'm kind of snobby that way. Perhaps you can help me out with that?

And I had some questions for you. *grins* If I can remember them.
Does it matter where we're from? There's lots of info on the Blessed Isle, and the South and such. I wouldn't mind, just on principle, coming from someplace a little further out than the Blessed Isle, like maybe towards the Fire Pole and the South. Maybe. I need to do some more checking. Gem, isn't that one of the Cities in the South?
See, I was looking, honest!
I need to go back through the list of concepts again though, and figure out a bg.

No, it doesn't matter all that much where you're from, especially if your character tends to travel a bit. I can make up a reason to start you all in the same area. And yes, Gem is in the far south.
The other Dawn is a melee specialist. Likes his swords, he does. Given the Dawn's main thing is combat, that's probably fairly relevant to you. However, I'm probably going to split the Solars into 2 seperate groups if all the apps come through, so you very well may end up the only Dawn in your party, so I wouldn't worry too much about the concept-stomping issue.

Well, okay. I can cope with that as well. I'll go back and reread on the far south and Gem. And figure out stuff tonight. I can't do it here unfortunately. I do recall you telling me that Ranged sucks in Exalted, so you know - Swords work. Well.

Thrown has a few more artifact weapons in other books (and I can send information on artifacts and such during chargen easily enough). They don't have the best charms, but some of them can be really effective. They probably have, oh, two really decent artifact weapons you can pick from in books not in the core. A pair of claws that fire out from a chain and a decent sling.
Brawl, on the other hand, really, really sucks the way the corebook presents it. I tend to borrow homebrew charms for that ability if I make a character with it and ask the ST if I can have them.
Melee and Martial Arts are nasty as they are and pretty good.
Also, in Exalted, the defense is always slightly stronger than the offense.
