If you put the table inside <pre> </pre> pair of tags, whatever spacing you set will be preserved.

And now that I look at what each letter stands for, it's all so obvious...

I spent ages (well, a few minutes) working my way through solving that!

I've no idea what each letter stands for... I just go by differences between letters, express one through another, etc. :)

A to D are 1, 3, 5, and 7 - the first four odd numbers.

I started off deciding that A must be 1 and B must be 3, because that was the only integer solution to A + A + A + B = 6. Then I worked from there.

And then I added up the last column wrong. ;o)

*grins* I started with horizonal rows and established that D = A + 6, C = B + 2. Then I got D = C + 2 by substituting letters in one of the columns.

Then from D = A + 6 = C + 2 = B + 4, I worked out the answer. :)
