Update on things

So, DK has a bad cold and is not coming to visit me today. Darn.

I have not done any studying for my marketing exam on Monday. Double darn.

However, I have now got the fold out couch out of my house, sitting by the road side to be taken away (haha). And there's this nice futon in its place. Mom and I laughed like crazy though, when we took all the little styrofoam peanuts that came in the box with the dragon that [livejournal.com profile] arwen77 sent me and tried pouring them into a garbage bag, so they can be recycled, gotten rid of, or otherwise disposed of.

There was a big garbage bag and a half of them - not exactly kind to the environment is it? I hope the darn things are biodegradeable, but I have my doubts.

But the futon is together, and it's lovely and comfy. And the peanuts are no longer taking up storage space in my house, so that's good too.

Yup. It'll suck on Monday though.

Yes, but you'll be glad when it's over!

Actually, modern 'styrofoam peanuts' are made from corn flour, not EPS. Try putting one of the peanuts on a flame-proof surface and light it on fire. If it turns black and smokes, it's old style EPS and must be either recycled to a packaging firm, or dumped at the landfill (Very unecological). If it is new style 'styrofoam', it will merely shrivel away and leave a nice scent behind. If it does the latter - just burn them. Or eat them. They're actually quite tasty if you salt them a bit.

Now that sounds like an interesting experiment. If my throat wasn't sore, and my nose stuffed, and my head killing me ... I'd have to try it. But right now, I'm fighting to convince myself to go get a cup of tea.

*bleah*

I hate colds.
