Where to start?
Nov. 29th, 2003 07:17 pmOkay, yesterday... I got held up at work a little later than I was expecting, so I was late arriving at the Christmas party. I went as Val's guest, so I got a chance to meet the wild and crazy folks she works with. They're a nice group, since I arrived, not knowing anyone, and said to myself, "Okay, now where is Val?" And someone said, "are you looking for Val? She's right over here." And she was too, hiding in the corner.
Someone else said, "Oh, we're glad you're here. We were all worried about you." I figured right then and there that I was going to be okay. And I was.
Dinner was good. Everyone at our table had the salad. If I'd have known that when I ordered, I would have ordered the pumpkin bisque, but I didn't. Too bad. The salad was nice, though most people weren't all that impressed with it. Then I had the salmon, and the mashed potatoes had the most marvellous dill sauce. Yes, with real fresh dill. Actually, I'm sure that all the herbs were fresh, and then the dessert was a raspberry mousse with a chocolate cake beneath and a chocolate layer on top. Real chocolate. Bittersweet. My favourite. Yum.
The place shows that it used to be a courthouse too. I think the washrooms for the restaurant are in what used to be jail cells. They seem to be just about that size, anyway.
The chamber lounge night club is cool, and we had a lot of fun there. I think I will definitely go back, and probably drag
arwen77 along next time he's in town.
And then we got home close to 2pm.
Got up this morning round about 8:45am. Got myself together and went off to subject myself to 3 hours of accounting talk as we interviewed someone about our project. Wow - I tell you what, it's a dry topic, but one that this fellow made interesting. I'm impressed.
After that, came home, ate lunch - it was late, 3pm. Had a big glass of juice. Helped Pam and Val move stuff out to their car. They're almost all moved out now. Actually, they have all their stuff out of the bedrooms and the washrooms. It's just the rolly stuff left - the bicycles, the wheely cart, and the rolly chair. Oh, and plants. I'm making them take some of the plants, cause there's too many in my house right now.
Then we relocated the extra matresses to one of the spare bedrooms, and we created a print server. We also put security on the wireless, and made sure I can print remotely. I now have 2 PCs working on SETI@home! Go me.
Well, it's a small thing, I admit, but you know, I take what I can get, when I still have 2 more accounting classes + a project, and a final. Not to mention 2 more marketing classes + a case page + a final.
And I'm not done my Christmas shopping yet.
Now I want a nap, but it's too late to nap. So instead ... I think I'll work on my next Solara post.
