On Cats

Cheyenne and Apache were outside this morning. We watched Cheyenne hunt a robin. Silly cat caught it too. So now there's a dead robin under my patio table. Yay?

Sadistic thing...

...

Though, I drowned a butterfly in my bathtub today. I guess I have no room to talk

*grins*

Well, you know, cats and humans - predators. Instincts are interesting things to watch in action.

Our cat does the same thing with moles for some reason.

Of course, he's got the dog to help assist in the ever-important "Mole Throw" portion of the event.

My cat chases moths and flies and bees. My dogs chase bees, and things like rabbits. I tend to try and keep them away from the rabbits, as I can't chastise them for it, or they'd soon be horrible rat dogs, which is what they're supposed to do... :p

A dog belonging to a friend of mine chases empty air. Or there might actually be some mosquito or other infinesimal object there that we can see, but watching that dog jump up into the air, snapping his teeth repeatedly at seemingly nothing is amusing as heck. We call him Sprudle (Translates badly, but means 'overly happy')

Heh. Sprudle. I ~like~ that.. What's it translate from? My two doxies do that, literally, but just 'cause I'm standing there, or they want to go outside. They don't usually do it for bugs though, not that I've seen, yet, anyway.

Sprudle is a Norwegian word. This dog either does it because he likes doing tricks in front of people (less likely) or because he's just plain ol' too happy for his own good. :)
