Yay!
It's not a long weekend for me, not really, but it still feels like one. I'll be off work this coming Tuesday, so it will split the week up very oddly.
Yesterday - I had a couple of very interesting conversations with friends. You know, those friends who are far away in a different country who you wish you got to talk to more? Yeah, those conversations. It was nice. Very nice.
In RP - Elyse talked to Eufimia, and go figure - Elyse is now more determined about the arches and such. Oceana had a nice little scene with Sorcha, Connor and Evangeline. Now of course, Cea wants to know how exactly Sorcha ended up being Nathael's daughter. Cause well, he's with Elyse, right? Oh, and Jen had an interesting conversation with Khyran, in which Khyran ended up heading to medlab. At the end of the scene, anyway. Good thing Cat started to convince her earlier. ;) Summer on the other hand got an invitation to go out to Signy and Sallir's farm and see the ponies, chickens, kitties and puppies. And she was there when Signy told Sallir she was pregnant. Whee! Gotta love being 5. Oh, yeah, I named Summer's babysitter Lobelia - and she was good enough to tell Summer that no she can't keep a pony in the back garden or in Daddy's forge. Momma should be pleased.
As for Harry Potter - still no comments from me - folks are reading. :)
It is supposed to be nice tomorrow, so I do think I'll make my way to War Practice. I want to enjoy some outside time, but then I'll come home for dinner, and relax on Sunday home alone. Yeah, that sounds like fun.
In other news, I volunteered to watch Mom's cat Merlin for her and Dad when they go on vacation the end of July. This could be quite entertaining, so long as none of the monster cats kill each other. It's Taliesin and Merlin I'm worried about mostly. Chey, Pach and Merlin all know each other.
Oh, and the severe weather for last night wasn't. All it did was change the pressure system so my head hurt, and it didn't even have the grace to rain. Darn it all - I'll have to water the plants tonight. Hrmph.

Date: 2003-06-27 07:39 am (UTC)Well, I don't think you posted the log of her arches, or if you did, I didn't read it.
In any event, I still want to overhaul the arches, oocly and icly. So you know, I'm all for that.
This reminds me - can you give me some information on blood weaving? @mail it or email it to me, when you get a chance, but it is something that would come in handy.
Thanks!

Date: 2003-06-27 08:14 am (UTC)I'll think on what other ones should be on your list. Inversion comes to mind, but I can't remember if it's a common weave or not. If it is, it should probably be noted as such somewhere.
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 08:16 am (UTC)It's not a common weave either.
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 08:32 am (UTC)Also, add all of anti-healing to the list as well. I think right now there's a grand total of two people on the grid who know it and it has to be learned ICly. It's pretty much Dark-only, too.

Excellent. Oh, I think I'm going to add the bonding weave in there - nobody who isn't an Aes Sedai should learn it, at least at the tower. I'm not sure about dreadlords/Malkier. But then, this is the tower files. Course, they can be modified where required to fit both the tower and Malkier, if you all want.
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 10:08 am (UTC)As for bonding... I think we can assume that the Aes Sedai know how to do it. Although putting it on the restricted list would certainly nudge people to RP at least one scene with someone other than their prospective bond that they're set to take right out of chargen.
Or it could be added to the list of Accepted lessons in +ap? That way I could make the code actually check for it and enforce it. :)
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 10:29 am (UTC)Well, that's how it works currently. I just want to be clear on the fact that teaching bonding to anyone not an Aes Sedai is a punishable offense if you get caught. ;)
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 10:40 am (UTC)What if we had lesson sheets for Aes Sedai akin to those of Novices and Accepted? Nobody says we can't. :)
On a completely random note,
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 10:44 am (UTC)Okay then. Limonade works.
And that's true, we could do that - it would make it easy to tell if folks actually know those weaves. Though, I think we don't want to put blood weaving on it. I'd put ... scrying, skimming, travelling, Reshna's healing weave (which needs a better name, really), inversion, bonding weave ... what else? Only the weaves that are permissable to teach/do. Though that does lead me to wonder - would we then have to do a tally to figure out who knows how to do these things? *grins*
Lots of work, but it might keep things straight. At least folks wouldn't be able to say they didn't know!
And it doesn't address the balefire/bloodweaving/anti-healing types of weaves. (If we put them on the lesson sheet, folks will decide they need to learn them, and they really don't.
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 10:53 am (UTC)An excellent point. Hrm. We need a tally of those who already know the restricted weaves. We could have folks @mail the wizards and have us set /something/ on them that marks them as knowing the weave?
It's definitely something to think about. But in the meantime, let's see about creating a lesson sheet for the allowed weaves. And yes, we'd need a tally of those who already know them, too. I'll add that to my todo list.
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 11:02 am (UTC)Or we can just trust them. I'll leave that up to you, frankly.
For me, I'm just going to keep on working on the file that explains what the weaves do, what flows they use, and whether you're allowed to use them, or they're stillable offensees, etc. ;)
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 11:04 am (UTC)To be honest, I don't particularly care either way. It's just that if we're going to create a list of "restricted" weaves, then we should have some means of enforcing/tracking. Otherwise, what's the point of having the list?

Date: 2003-06-27 11:11 am (UTC)Honest folks will follow it either way and won't record lessons they didn't actually teach. =)
Re: Blood weaving
Date: 2003-06-27 11:16 am (UTC)True. It's definitely a good idea to consider. See what Age and Horizon think, maybe?
