Not Quite in an Accident
Jan. 14th, 2004 09:53 amSo, I'm driving along in the rush hour traffic, on the 401 westbound this morning. I know there's a big slowdown ahead, because the traffic report is just full of the 2 right lanes closed in the Express at Bathurst. Alright, alright. So, well ahead of there, I put myself in the exactly correct lane to choose either the express or the collectors, just in case. And I'm driving along, through the little bit of snow falling. There's snow blowing all over the road, because it's freezing cold out there, and the snow is light and airy.
I see this red car behind me - I think it was red anyway, I'm not sure any more - zoom across 4 lanes of traffic to make it from the fast lane of the express into the collectors. Then I think, "Oh, he's changed his mind." Then I realize "No, he hasn't changed his mind" as the car turns so it ends up slamming front first into the median, back across all 4 lanes of traffic. So far as I know, he didn't hit any other cars, but I'm not convinced they didn't hit him as they came up along the highway. Maybe not, most cars were going slow, due to it being rush hour and all.
Oh, and I couldn't tell you if the driver was male or female, and I'm not trying to make any comments on anyone's driving. It's just a note that I was really close to an accident today, and that's a little scary. I hope that driver is okay. I was past it when it happened, with no way to back up, so I didn't stop. But you know, if he'd been a couple feet closer to me, I think he'd have hit my car...
There has to be a way to stop this stupid commuting.
