Okay, let me just start by saying that was fun.
I haven't played golf in years - since before my laser surgery, I bet. Yes, I was once legally blind in my right eye. Which for those of you who don't know - 20/200 qualifies as legally blind. But corrective laser surgery - oh, maybe 4 years ago now - solved that problem, bringing the vision to 20/20.
Depth perception has never really been a strong suit of mine, which made golfing a real interesting perspective.
However, all that aside, I agreed to join a golf league with my mom, a couple of aunts, and a cousin-in-law. All women. This is fun.
It's a small course, a par 3. Which means that I figured I'd score round about 100 for 9 holes. Yes, that /is/ how bad I am. And I golf left handed, which is the only reason why I own golf clubs. Self defence. I could never find clubs to rent. Oh, I'm one of those odd people who does fine motor things right handed - like writing, and gross motor skills left - batting, hocky, golf ... *grins* Don't ask, I have no clue.
Anyway, I got there about 5 minutes late, but it's okay, cause my cousin-in-law didn't show at all, and my mom and one aunt were about half an hour late. We started off with five of us - the course through an extra- Yvonne. And then we split on the second hole to a group of 3 and 2. Which actually moves faster than the large group of 5.
The grass was muddy, wet, and the robins kept trying to get hit by flying golf balls. The sun was shining brightly though, and it wasn't windy at all. The grass was incredibly green, well except where it was muddy. But that will soon change.
I actually scored a 66 on the course, and I impressed myself by having one or two good shots. I actually made it over a water hazard, for just about the first time in my life. Okay, I also made it around one, and dumped into one, but hey, you can't have everything.
Anyhow, I was most impressed with the 70 yard drive (whee! I so suck at this game) over the water hazard. It almost rolled backwards into the water, but it was muddy so it didn't make it. Course, I laughed myself silly when I got near enough to discover that I'd landed the ball right in the ball drop circle (which is where you drop a new ball after you dump your ball into the water and can't get it out). Sheesh. Well, it was one fewer strokes at least. Or is that two...?
I don't know, and I don't much care. I had fun, giggled, laughed, and now I'm sleepy. That's what that scary thing called fresh air will do to you, right?
Tomorrow looks to be a long day as well. *yawns* But I should be home around 7:30 or so.
Hopefully rp...
