Snow flurries, and -30C windchill. This is winter, the way I remember it from when I was a kid. We have definitely been spoiled the past few years. Don't get me wrong, I like being spoiled, but it's nice to have a real winter again. I'm hoping we get enough precipitation to end our so called drought. That would be nice.

RP yesterday - Sheridan, Tori, Fallon and some NPC pilots had a meeting with an Ambassadorial Attache who told them he had news that the raiders are going to strike within the next 2 days. That was pretty cool. Go Sheridan! Elyse finished inducting Zira into the Novice program, and she got to practice some with her new daggers. (Thanks Tamlyn and Jaenna again!) Oh, and she taught Silvasia a spirit lesson. *grinbounce* Diohne started learning about cultures - Coremanda - go figure! it's where Xavier is from. And Jirat showed up and got all huffy over Xavier. *grins* I think Jirat is jealous! He was also upset cause Di got hurt and he wasn't there to protect her. *shakes head* I guess he needs more practice at that protecting thing, huh?

And I think that's all the rp I got involved in. Tomorrow night, Mau and Carai, I think. And Jen. ;)

Well, we'll see how that works or not.

Night class tonight, and we'll have to figure out our presentation, since it's due in 2 weeks. And while I started my research for that essay, I'm not done it yet. I guess I'll have to put some serious time in on my schoolwork this weekend. Must hide the SimpleMU* icon or something.

Must hide the SimpleMU* icon or something.

*snicker* Maybe you should get [livejournal.com profile] akevestan to hide it for you. Otherwise you might be able to find it too quickly.

*laughs*

Now there's a thought. Course, then I won't be able to find it when I want it, right? *rolls eyes*

*chuckles* Hard to have it both ways.

Yeah.

Darn it all anyway. ;)

Val should be home on Monday. This is good, yes? And even if you haven't seen all the DVDs by Jan 31 - you can still keep going forward.

See? That works. *bouncebounce*

So, usually, I'm home from work between 6:30pm and 7. What shall we do for dinner? I still vote for steak! Ideas?

Steak works for me. (Go figure that.) Steak I know how to cook. Baked potatoes or fries?

baked potatoes. Or potato wedges. Either way, they can be managed. ;)

And shh, maybe even a vegetable or something. ;)

We'll get a small vegetable and share. ;)

Chocolate martinis and chocolate covered fruit? Will that do instead?

*snickers* I don't think they're nutritionally equal. But they'll do nicely. ;)

On a different note... I got an invoice for the RS account. *hint and all that*
We should probably see about moving it to your credit card if you still want it. And I need to see about closing my other account too. The only thing on there right now is Greyscans and that can be easily moved over to the RS space. The account there should be able to handle GS + RS + Odyssey. (I'm assuming Stef doesn't want Starfall right now.)

Can it wait until Jan 31? And then I expect you have to start the process to turn it over to me.

The account is paid until Feb 1. I guess we can cover this upcoming payment the same way we dealt with the earlier ones, and then I'll see about transferring the account to you for the next payment (which will be around May 1.)

How's that?

Windchill is wrong. :P

http://www.discover.com/jan_03/featworks.html can explain it better than I, since I can't show you the article itself.

The windchill measurements you are using have been deposed in the US and Canada. :P

Uh, no. Environment Canada devised a new windchill system in 2000, to replace the old one that dates from the WWII era.

Windchill readings in Canada are currently based on the new system. Although [livejournal.com profile] damara saying the windchill was -30C is somewhat incorrect; windchill is calibrated to give results that look very similar to celcius temperature readings, but they aren't in celcius.

*smiles*

Okay, you're right. They revised the windchill index, because the temperatures originally used were inaccurate.

And [livejournal.com profile] ringzero is right too. From a purely scientific perspective, you're both right.

Congratulations!

Okay, I stand corrected. Though I'm also slightly correct. I wonder why the article didn't mention the change had happened...

They kind of mention it ...

In 2000 Osczevski and Bluestein won a dual commission from Canada and the United States to revise wind-chill calculations.

But that isn't exactly obvious. If you check the wind chill tables currently in use though ... the exact example used in this article shows that they are now using the revised versions. So, 20C day with 10km/hr wind gives you wind chill so that it feels like 9C, not 3C...

And they are still working on an even more accurate measure. ;)
