I need to write a term paper for an economics course. It's an economic analysis (either Micro or Macro) of a real life situation (eg - the Asian Economic Crisis). The problem is that I don't know what to write about.

Any ideas?

Faulty banking procedures and policies in Japan ought to give you enough topic. Finding information may be harder, but it's fascinating that a culture so good at so many things can make such bad business decisions over and over and over again.

Not sure if this's what you're looking for, but.. you could take a look at Russian economics (or lack thereof :)). I'm not too familiar with that myself, though, so I can't suggest anything more specific.. but there's stuff like government not having enough money for salaries, theft, corruption, and similar fun and entertaining things.

What kind of topics are you interested in? Economic development? Trade? Cylical effects?

Don't know - haven't covered Macro yet. Micro is so-so. It's a required course, you see.

I think Crisis Situations and what might have caused them would be fun.

Well, then do crises situations then! Although that's more of a macro topic than a micro topic anyway. ;)
