Absolutely gorgeous weather this weekend. [livejournal.com profile] anselon did not make it by, which does happen on occasion. I got quite a few errands run on Saturday. This too is good. [livejournal.com profile] akesteven, Val and I went for a bike ride on Sunday. Well, it's perhaps more accurate to say that [livejournal.com profile] akesteven and I biked. Val walked. And after we got back, we hopped in the car to head to Pedal Performance where Val bought a bike, akesteven got a kickstand, and I got a little computer for my bike. Cause people keep asking me how far I went, and I can't tell them.

Now I will be able to. The wonders of technology - my bike now has a computer.

That was a really good bike ride though. I went from home to Lion's Point. I'm not sure how far it was (see above) but it was a very relaxing ride. Along the waterfront, past the water filtration plant that some of you know. The sun was shining, birds were fluttering around, not to mention squawking when someone got too close to them. A gentle breeze was blowing, keeping it from getting too hot. I still hate biking uphill, but down hill is fun. Funny, i feel the same way about cross country skiing. There were quite a few people out walking, jogging, blading, and biking. It was nice to see all the activity. Lots of folks with small kids and/or dogs. I made a point of saying good morning or wishing them a nice day. With a friendly smile.

It's neat to watch how different people react to that. Some of them just give you a shocked look and can't react quickly enough to say anything before you're past. Others laugh and return the sentiment. So far, nobody has responded negatively, though I did get a few wary, neutral type responses. They must have just moved away from the big city or something.

Val was very productive, and there's now an additional set of curtains up in my house. Well, 2 actually, though one set is in my guest bedroom. And we discussed how to rearrange the computer room, since that's something that needs doing.

We watched some Dragonball something or other too. Or at least, akesteven did, instead of doing the DVD course she's supposed to be learning, and Val did. I was roleplaying at the time, but I peeked over every once in a while. Sheer disbelief in some cases had me staring at the screen. Talk about a soap opera. Those dancing Bala Bala brothers were just wrong.

In rp ... well, Yasmin is doomed. There's just no hope for her now.

And I posted wayyyy too many logs.

Course, I'm still not caught up. Probably, I never will be.

But that's okay - it gives me a goal.

Perhaps I will get to know all the people if I bike ride more often. Now that I have the odometer on the bike, I intend to figure out a short run, a medium run and a long run.

The short run for Pam. The medium run for me. And the long run is a goal to reach.

I've actually got different circuits, short, medium-cardio, medium-legs, and long.

Haven't run short in years, medium-cardio and medium-legs are actually the same route, but in different directions. One way is a good cardio workout, and the other way is good for building leg strength: it has this killer hill, 95% grade, followed by a long 50% grade hill.

Long is actually most of the medium-cardio run followed by most of the short run. I don't think I've ever actually done it though, usually I just do one of the mediums twice. :P

So why not run the long route? Is it longer than twice the medium?

No, it's about 1.6 or 1.7 times the length of the medium. Just usually by the time I get to the point where I'd have to leave the medium and go for the long my brain has stopped functioning. :P

(i.e., I forget)

Hmm. Actually, I would do it tonight, but tonight's my night off from running (I go two days, then take a day off - if you don't regularly take a day off it hurts your ability to build up stamina and strength), and I'll probably forget by tomorrow! =D
