Mostly Good Today
*grins*
Yeah. So, let's see, woke up at a reasonable time, more or less. It was raining here, so when
wolfcat called, it was tough to decide whether to stay or go. But after we talked for almost an hour on the phone, I decided that going out sounded good. Went over to her place, and picked her up. Then we drove north. And we kept going until the road ended at, a nice little woods. The colours got progressively golden, orange, red, as we went. It was nice. The clouds let up, and blue sky could be seen, as well as sunshine.
We walked through the woods for a while. It was nice. We discovered that the grandfather tree
wolfcat remembers so fondly has been sold, and the area its in is now blocked off by wire fence with big "No Tresspassing" signs. This was somewhat disconcerting and it also through our sense of direction off.
Now frankly, I'm quite sure the fey were out distracting and deluding us, for the sheer fact that we are story tellers. But you know, we were telling stories, and having fun with our trek in the woods. We didn't even mind when the exit vanished on us, and we couldn't find it. The crop circle was a bit disturbing, I admit, but well, that was only to be expected, all things considered. Yes, it was one of those days where fantasy and reality mesh.
And of course, we did make it to my car just before 3pm - right on time... more or less.
We were only half an hour late for Thanksgiving dinner at my aunt Leah's too. I dragged
wolfcat along, because it seemed like a great idea at the time. We had a small dinner - only ... 12 of us, I think. Yup, that is a small Thanksgiving dinner in this family. We were missing a good 7 or more people, for the usual. And that's nowhere near the whole family.
Aunt Leah had her kitchen/dining area redone relatively recently. They did a good job - it's very nice.
Dinner conversation was amusing as usual. Lauren is 4, you see, and kids that age are great for fun conversation. It ranged from everything including Norway, kids, boyfriends, and endometriosis (someone I know is pregnant and has it, so you know, it came up.). I think maybe the kitchen sink, politics, and religion came up too. Oh, and jealousy because at least 3 members of our family are currently in Vegas. Yup, just a regular amusing dinner with the family.
I'm very thankful that I have this family, you know. They are awesome.
