Counting Today ...

... there are 17 days (not counting the Friday on which we will start) until we next play Circus.

Yes, I am counting down. Isn't that pathetic? Of course, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that there are also 17 days to finish up the 4 assignments due before Reading Week. Nope, definitely not.

There were neat ribbons in the sky yesterday, as I drove home. It was pretty - until the sun finished setting, leaving me in the dark. And today, I had to de-ice my windows so I could see to drive. Yay?

Winter, unfortunately, is coming. Of course, so is Indian Summer.

I still maintain that Fall and Winter are the best seasons.

...nevermind the fact that my fingers are so numb I cant feel the keystrokes while I type this :P

Fall is my favourite season. Indian Summer is one of the best parts about fall.

But I can live without winter. Honest.

Why for? I mean, why do you like Fall and Winter?

[identity profile] damara.livejournal.com 2003-10-07 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
I like fall. I don't like de-icing the car though. Bleah. Spring is better. :)

I like some aspects of Winter. Like the bright, sunny days when the sky is a clear, vibrant blue, the snow is crisp, and you can hear each and every step you make.

Still, Fall is better.

I like cross country skiing, hot chocolate with Godet's by the fireplace, gently falling snow in the woods, bright crisp days with a warm crackling fire, ice skating, Christmas, New Years, Solstice, snow angels and snow ball fights.

But I can do without the terminal dark grey days, the horrific traffic, and the blizzards.

Winter is crisp and clean. The cold air keeps the stagnant sweat from the air, and promises nights filled with fireplaces lit.

Im one who likes to wrap up in a nice trenchcoat and warmer clothes. Shorts and tee-shirts arent my thing, by any means. Cooler weather is refreshing to me, it doesnt bog me down like the stagnant and sweltering heat in the summer. My allergies also are freed up, the pollen in the air has minimalized, so I may breath freely for a few scant months.

Winter means snow, which as we all know brings about the child in each of us. Snowball fights are even found here at work, the powdery white stuff pulling at everyone's mischeviousness. And then there is of course, Christmas :)

There isnt an easy answer to that question. I feel younger, cleaner, and more at peace in the fall and winter.

Mmmm ... There are things I like about every season, including fall and winter.

What I don't like? The days get shorter, so that I leave for work in the dark, and arrive home in the dark. I don't like the unsettled weather of early autumn nor do I like driving in snow storms, hail storms, ice storms, or even just snowy days. Because it makes a stressful drive about 100 times more so.

Ah yes, but you seem to forget that if we are lucky enough to get 2 inches of snow here, the city literally closes down.

Now, I know what real snow-filled days are, I did some growing up in Pennsylvania with my mother's family. A few feet of snow was the norm. Perhaps thats why I attribute Winter to youth.

Down in SC though, a few inches and we consider ourselves lucky.

Ive said it before.....you live too far up North ;)

*grins*

Sure, if I had winter like you do ... I'd like it too!

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2003-10-07 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the de-icing that gets to me, too... Oh, for an autostarter.

I do prefer Fall to Spring, though, I have to admit. In spite of it all.

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2003-10-07 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I like Winter when it's like that, too. When it's a Saturday and I have no place to go. But, I hate winter driving, I hate salt and sleet and ice. Snow is okay on trees and lawns, but it sucks on roads.

And last winter was too long for me to forget how long it was. I don't want it to come back, yet. Winter can be from December 15 to January 2nd and I'm happy.

[identity profile] damara.livejournal.com 2003-10-07 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* I like them all, truthfully. I like late autumn, early spring, before the bugs come out, but when it's reasonably warm.

[identity profile] damara.livejournal.com 2003-10-07 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins*

You know, that works for me.

I still want a way to have snow fall only on the cross country trails and the grass ... then I'd be happy.

[identity profile] wolfcat.livejournal.com 2003-10-07 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
*chuckle* I'd settle for that...
