Cats are strange critters.
Seriously.
Every year about this time, my friend Grant brings over his Terry Cat for a visit, while he goes to visit his family far off, leaving on a jet plane. This time, Terry came to visit Friday night. Terry arrived in his souped up cat carrier, and I let him out. His first move was to head directly to the basement. He didn't even have to think about it, he just ran. Course, he's been at my place often enough, that only makes sense.
We went out for dinner, and when we came back, Grant found Terry so as to say good bye.
Which, after Grant left, I discovered that Apache and Ronin were all hissy faced, Terry was hissing back, and Tal couldn't figure out what the heck the problem was.
Saturday, every time Terry showed his face, he got hissed at. Or he hissed.
But, Saturday evening, after I got home from Christmas shopping, Terry had taken over one of the cat beds on the couch, and was comfortably snoozing. Yes, that's right. Upstairs, not in the basement. There were still a bunch of hissy cats in the house.
Sunday morning, Terry was lounging at the top of the stairs under the window, waiting for me to go down and feed them all. There was some sniffing, when Ronin and Tal found him there, and even a hiss. From Ronin, the little rat.
And by Sunday night, the hissing had pretty much stopped. Two days, that's how long it took to go from the end of the world as they know it, to everything shines.
In other news - my Christmas shopping is done, but my cards are not. They will be late. Course, so will some of the gifts which haven't yet been mailed. Ack!
Oh well, I'm mostly very glad that the shopping it is done. And that the cats are no longer driving me crazy hissing. Instead they're driving me crazy yowling for attention once more.
