Lessee ... Friday was dinner out with the gang and much fun and hilarity ensued.

Saturday - started with creating a roster character for MoL, and then a couple of work calls. (But my boss kicked me off the work stuff, so I could go enjoy my b-day. She's pretty cool that way.)

Then I trundled off to meet my Mom in Cobourg. We stayed at the Lotus Motel. So far as motels go - it was a decent price, though nothing to write home about. The sink and bathtub were blue, the carpet bright red. Easy enough to find off the highway, but I'm thinking the Best Western would have been better and more comfortable. Of course, we think we might have been the only guests, given there were only our vehicles and one other truck. There was a grey striped cat that climbed up on the window ledge of one of the other rooms though, so maybe we weren't the only ones there. Of course, we didn't see any people there, so maybe the cat was on its own?

Probably not.

We went for a nice walk down one way and then up the other, looking for Shoeless Joe's. Turned out Shoeless Joe's no longer exists, so no wonder we couldn't find it. We ended up eating dinner in the restaurant at the Best Western. The service was horribly slow, but the food was really good. And the waitress was nice. Steak, baked potato, grilled veggies - all added up to yum. And a cranberry-apple crumble for dessert that was actually made with real fruit and real oatmeal. Walked back to the motel in a nice comfy mood.

We watched Hocus Pocus on televsion. It was cute. Kept us entertained and wasn't entirely Hallowe'en creepy like some of the other options on. It was kind of obvious that it's nearly spook night, that's for sure. Turned on the news after the movie and fell asleep halfway through.

Sunday morning, the alarms went off around about 7am. We took our time getting ready and checking out. I was not at all happy to find frost on the windows - real frost too, not just that early autumn steam equivalent. A short trip to Tim Hortons' for coffee and then off to Grafton to Ste. Anne's spa.

I really want to know why I am not rich enough to afford this all the time. Because oh, that was soooo very nice. Much thanks to the gang who gave me the gift certificate. Whichever of you came up with that idea, well done!

Started with a tour of the place at 8:30am and a quick sit in the dry sauna. And then by about 9:15 I was in for my hand therapy treatment. Nails trimmed, buffed, cuticles done, massaged, arms massaged, and even a scalp massage. Good start to the day. Met back up with Mom and we hit the hot tub, wave pool, cold dip, and the hot tub again. A shower, and then lunch at 11:45. Yes, time just flew by so fast it was gone before we noticed.

Lunch was a really nice tomato soup, followed by a stromboli for me. Salad bar for all - please help yourselves. An Arnold Palmer to drink, made with a really nice raspberry tea. And then a chocolate orange torte for dessert.

Mom had to head off for her massage after lunch, and I had my foot therapy. These are really just manicures/pedicures, but they don't do nail polish, so they call them therapy instead. I know I fell asleep during this one, that's how relaxing it was. Course, I also found out I have one ticklish spot on each foot... no, I'm not telling you lot where! But yes, nails buffed, filed, trimmed, cuticles, feet scrubbed, leg massage... really nice. Met back up with Mom and she went into the inside hot tub ... oh yeah, did I mention the wave pool, cold dip and hot tub from earlier were outside? They are! And the entire building looks like a castle, complete with courtyrard and stone wall.

After that was afternoon tea at around 3. Dragon Pearl Jasmine tea in a cute one person pot that sits on top of the teacup. Cheese, crackers, a huge fruit salad, yogurt, cookies, brownies, and carrot cake. Oh - and sandwiches for those who were interested. Once that was done, it was just about time for Mom's manicure and my massage.

And to that, I can just say one thing... Puurrrrrrr.

Once that was done, we lazed around for about 20 minutes, trying to get ourselves together to move. Very relaxed. Stopped by the gift shop and bought a Christmas gift for someone. Checked out and then stopped to play on the wooden swing. Those things are so much fun!

By the time we got to our cars, the one little cloud that was over head was spitting hail at us. No, I'm not kidding. ;)

And from there, home again.

Popped very briefly on FFXI, but was so not in the mood for that game, so didn't stay long.

On MoL - let me see, had 3 scenes on the go. And finished up that roster character. :) Well, I think. So long as the staff approve it, then it's off my plate and I no longer need to worry about it. Time to volunteer for something else there.

Snuggled the three cats, chatted on Skype, and then went to bed. Today - at work.

And that's all she wrote. At least for now.
