Kitten News
Sep. 25th, 2006 01:17 pmSo, as previously posted, the little cute kitten arrived home with me on Friday night late. He was very dozy, possibly still from his surgery on Thursday morning. I rousted him out of his carrying cage for two or so hours. He wasn't moving much, but he did cuddle on my lap quite nicely. I put him back in the cage around midnight so he could sleep through the night without my worrying about him. He was in the computer room - I had wires to worry about. Of course, I woke around 3 concerned that he might want to get out of the carrier to get a drink, a kitty kibble or the litter box. So I opened his carrier and went back to sleep.
When I woke for real on Saturday morning, he was still in the carrier and in no hurry to come out. Once he did come out, he was a little more active, investigating the computer room as much as he could. He would hide every time I went near him, taking off in the other direction. For most of Saturday, I just called him goofball. At one point, he ended up at the screen door, with Taliesin on the other side. Tal hissed at the kitten, who didn't seem to take it personally at all. By Saturday night, I was determined that the kitten was not going to be staying in the computer room. He was rambunctious enough I was worried that stuff was going to go flying.
So, he spent Saturday night locked up in his carrier in the bedroom. Tal slept on the bed as per usual, but he did his once or twice at the kitten. Even in the carrier.
Did I mention I'm giving the kitten pills? This is due to the surgery on thursday. I'm told by the breeder that it's because he was neutered at a young age (20weeks old). Anyway, I can manage to give the little thing 1 pill per day, though just barely. It's amusing because despite having cats for all these years, I've never given a cat a pill before. I have now. Twice. And counting.
Sunday the kitten spent mostly locked up in the bedroom. I did take him downstairs for about 45 minutes. Tal and Apache both hissed at him, but Chey was outside so he hasn't met her yet. He was much more squirmy and rambunctious, even willing to jump off my lap on Sunday. And of course, I decided on a name for him. Ronin. Yup, it works. (I know there's those who think it should be Ronan, but well, Ronan Dex (or is that Ronon?) is a ronin too! Sorta. )
By Sunday night, he was complaining loudly at being put back in the carrier, so I left him out. He ended up sleeping on my bed. Tal, I think, stayed downstairs with Cheyenne. Apache spent the night outside. I don't know if it has anything to do with the kitten or not. She just wouldn't come back in when I called her. Goofball.
This morning, Tal came in, and he continued to hiss at the kitten. Of course, he was also starting to bat at him in play, so I'm not too worried. Since I have a very long day, I left the kitten locked up in the bedroom, the other three monster cats in the rest of the house.
Night class tonight, and tomorrow night. Wednesday, I'm taking the kitten to the vet for a once over. I'm quite sure Ronin won't be happy with that, but depending on how it goes, I'm going to start letting him out of the room to roam the house Wednesday evening. At least while I'm home. By next monday, I should be able to leave him out with the rest of the monsters while I go to work.
At least, that's the plan.
As for pictures, well, soon's I get my hands on a digital camera and some time!
