Okay, up and at 'em, bright and early. Over to Enterprise car rental by 8:30am cause we reserved a compact car the night before. Gotta love modern technology.
Anyway, the lady behind the desk says, hi. Welcome. Everything is in order. Things look perfect, except ....
we don't have a compact car for you. We do however have a van. An Astro Cargo van.
Yipes!
Well, at this point, I'm determined. No way the universe is gonna get so in the way as to prevent me and Ana from going to visit Bastian. Nope. No way at all. So, I look at the lady as she tells me that the van costs 15$ a day more than the compact car.
Why is it that I can make a reservation on the internet for a car that you don't have? I ask. Cause well, I'm annoying that way. Answer: because they have a lousy system.
Needless to say, we got the van at the same rate as the car. Whee. Now all we had to do was drive it 250 miles sort of north. Through the rain showers, thunderstorms and hail.
Yup, the universe truly was out to prevent that trip, but I'm stubborn. ;)
And we did make it to Natchitoches (Did I spell that right? someone help!), Louisiana. In time to convince Bastian to cook us some lunch. That worked ... and then we got to chat a bit, and go meet Bastian's Mother ... She is a very cool lady. I like her, almost as much as I like Ana and Bastian.
Dinner was a Bastian concoction, which was way cool and very yummy. Venison. Mmmmm. And I got to meet another friend of Bastian and Ana's who's not really online, atm, but supposedly working on it. On RS, as I understand it. Eventually we had to give up on talking in order to sleep ...
